Indications have emerged that the Nigeria’s national grid has collapsed, throwing the country into total darkness as there is currently a national blackout.
It was reported that the grid collapsed 11:21am on Sunday, leading to shutdown of all 20 power plants, except Ibom Power with 31 megawatts.
While confirming the incident the Management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC) said the power outage was as a result of a system failure from the national grid “at 11:21 hours today, 4th February 2024 which has led to a nationwide power outage.”
While appealing for patience among its customers, it assured that it is working with the relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is stabilized.
