The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended 28 new candidates for appointment as judges in various state courts and the Sharia Court of Appeal in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
A press statement issued by Soji Oye, NJC Director of Information, announced this on Thursday, revealing that the recommended judges are expected to fill vacant spaces for the Superior Court of Records in five states and the FCT.
The recommended candidates are: Olawoyin Ibijoke Olabisi, Abdulrazaq Fatimah Funsho, Folorunsho Oba Muritala, Dikko Yusuf Adebayo, Adeniyi Oluwatosin Adenike, Osuolale-Ajayi Temitope Olalekan for the High Court of Kwara State.
Zubairu Murtala Ja’afaru for the High Court of Kaduna State.
Kor Vincent Tersoo, Ikwulono Maigida Maimuna, Adagba Nguhemen Julie Tor, and Damian Tersugh for the High Court of Benue State.
Onche Ogah Inalegwu and Igba Theophilus Terhile for the Customary Court of Appeal, Benue State.
Onyiri Frank, Ugoji Victor Chinedum, Obomanu Godswill Vidal, Oguguo Rita Chituru, Fubara Alatuwo Elkanah, Kokpan Bariyima Sylvester, Obu Ibietela Innocent Madighi and Wifa-Adedipe Lesi for the High Court of Rivers State.
Daomi Williams Adebisi, Fabuluje Adewumi William, Ogunwumiju Mobayonle Idowu, Demehin-Ogunbayo Inumidun Happiness, Kpemi Ojufisintei Justinah and Adegoroye Olufunke Adeola for the High Court of Ondo State.
And lastly, Muhammad Lawal Munir for the Sharia Court of Appeal, FCT Abuja.
The statement added that the NJC had forwarded the recommendations to the respective state governors and the President for approval.
The candidates are expected to be sworn in after the approval of the NJC recommendations.
