Not cooking, Cleaning ended my marriage Actress Halle Berry’s Ex-Husband David Justice

Halle Berry’s first husband, former Major League Baseball star David Justice, has revealed he ended their marriage partly because she didn’t “cook and clean.”

The 58-year-old Oscar-winning actress married Justice, 59, in 1993, but they divorced in 1997. Speaking on the All the Smoke podcast with Matt Barnes, Justice admitted his traditional views and lack of relationship experience contributed to the split.

“As a Midwest guy, I grew up thinking a wife should cook, clean, and be traditional,” he said. “When I thought about having kids, I wasn’t sure she seemed motherly. That’s when issues started.”

Justice claimed Berry proposed to him just five months after they met, and he agreed despite doubts. “I didn’t want to say no and make her feel bad,” he recalled.

He also cited Berry’s busy acting career as a factor, saying they spent long periods apart while she filmed in different countries. “We probably could have made it if we’d known about therapy,” Justice reflected. “We never had major problems, but I was young and inexperienced. I’d only been in one real relationship before her.”

He believes the marriage might have survived if they had sought professional counseling.

“We honestly probably could have made it if I knew about therapy,” Justice reflected, emphasizing that they didn’t have major conflicts but lacked the tools to navigate their differences effectively.

The couple’s relationship reportedly faced increased public scrutiny after Justice decided to end the marriage in 1996.
