Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as “Corper Raye,” has disclosed that she was not issued her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate after completing her mandatory one-year service program.

Uguamaye shared this information on her Instagram page on August 9, 2025. She had previously gained national attention for a viral TikTok video in which she criticized President Tinubu’s administration over Nigeria’s deteriorating economic conditions, high inflation rates, and widespread hardship affecting citizens.
In her controversial video, she labeled the President a “terrible leader” and questioned the government’s efforts to address citizens’ suffering. She also criticized Lagos State, describing it as having poor living conditions.
After the video went viral, Uguamaye alleged that NYSC officials threatened her and demanded she remove the post. Her claims drew support from prominent figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, who condemned the alleged threats against her.
Notably, Uguamaye’s public outcry was reportedly instrumental in the recent increase of corps members’ monthly allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000.
In her latest revelation, Uguamaye explained that NYSC officials denied her the service certificate, claiming she failed to complete clearance procedures for April on the scheduled date. However, she disputed this explanation, stating that she was present for clearance but was repeatedly turned away by a Local Government Inspector (LGI) who eventually refused to process her clearance and confiscated her file.
Expressing frustration with her experience serving in Lagos State, Uguamaye described the situation as a waste of time and indicated she was closing this chapter of her life.
