Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) has sealed a plastic scrap collection and recycling company, G.J. halcyon Nigeria Limited, situated in Sango Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area over environmental infraction.

This was disclosed during an enforcement tour by the Agency led by the Assistant Chief Scientific Officer, Mr. Alade Babatunde, sequel to the directive by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Mr. Ola Oresanya to immediately shut down the company after it failed to comply with several abatement notices issued.

Alade pointed out that the company had been found culpable of operating without environmental approvals and discharging untreated wastewater to the host community, thereby endangering the lives of people, noting that companies must adhere strictly to environmental laws of the State.

“Lives of your host community should be a major priority to you, desist from practices that can be injurious to people’s health and or affect businesses, as the present administration will not take it easy with any environmental law defaulter”, he warned.
