The Ondo State Police Command has announced the deployment of 3,000 personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, disclosed that the deployment is part of proactive measures aimed at safeguarding lives and property before, during and after the festive period.

According to him, officers will be strategically stationed at Eid prayer grounds, major highways, recreational centres, markets and other critical public locations across Ondo State.

The initiative, he said, aligns with the broader security strategy of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen safety nationwide during the Sallah celebrations.

The Command further revealed that specialised units, including Tactical Teams, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal-Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) unit, the Police Mobile Force and operatives of the State Intelligence Department, have been mobilised for both covert and overt operations.

These units, the police said, will focus on preventing criminal activities and ensuring swift response to any security threats during the festivities.

Residents of the state have been urged to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and promptly report suspicious movements to the nearest police station or through designated emergency lines.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, while wishing Muslim faithful in the state a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
