Osun State Orders School To Begin Recitation of Reintroduced National Anthem

Osun State Government has directed all private and public schools in the State to start the recitation of the anthem recently assented by President Bola Tinubu with immediate effect.

The instruction could be seen in a press release signed by the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education Osun State, Muritala Jimoh, on Friday, May 31st 2024.

It would be recalled that the President signed the reintroduction of the old national anthem prior to the introduction of ‘Arise o Compatriots’ in the late 1970s.

The state government said schools should commence the immediate integration of the old national anthem during their morning assembly.

In the press release, the Permanent Secretary said, all of heads of schools, private and public should monitor compliance of the directive issued by the ministry.

The press release stated, “The Federal Government recently approved a new National Anthem for the country, it is therefore pertinent for schools across Osun State to comply with this directive.

“As a result, all heads of schools in both public and private schools should ensure compliance in their various schools.

“It is expected that it is the new Anthem that should be rendered during their various morning assemblies and this should be done as a matter of duty.”
