Operatives of the Anambra state police command in collaboration with the Anambra State Vigilante Group have neutralized four suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, as well as its armed wing ESN.

The command spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement made available to newsmen, said operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad and the local vigilante group acting on intelligence stormed the secessionist camp at Awa in Orumba North local government area of the state.

The operation which was said to have lasted for fifteen hours, led to an exchange of gunfire leading to the killing of four of the suspects. One kidnap victim who was kidnapped after a ransom of twenty million naira was said to have been paid without his release, was said to have been rescued during the operation.

Items recovered from the camp of the suspect include locally made IEDs, AK 47 rifles, Pump action guns as well as their operational cars.
