The Nigeria Police Force has rescued two abducted students and staff of Federal University, Gusau (FUGUS) in Zamfara. The police also arrested three of the abductors.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by ASP Yazid Abubakar, Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer. The statement reads, “On the evening of October 14, 2023, around 8:00 PM, a group of armed individuals, suspected to be bandits, wielding dangerous weapons, forcefully entered a rented student residence situated on the outskirts of Sabon Garin Damba. They abducted two students and a staff of the Federal University, Gusau at gunpoint.
In response to this distressing incident, the Zamfara State Police Command immediately activated its striking force for a thorough search and rescue operation. We are pleased to report that the efforts of the Command have yielded a successful and positive outcome, as all the victims were rescued unharmed, while three of the abductors were apprehended. Operations are still ongoing to apprehend other fleeing abductors.
