The Ondo State Police Command has rescued five victims of an armed robbery incident and arrested three suspects following a swift security operation along Ondo Road.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday between Ita-Oba and Oboto, when a commercial vehicle travelling from Ondo to Akure was intercepted by armed robbers. The attackers reportedly forced the vehicle into a nearby bush and dispossessed the passengers of their belongings.
The victims were identified as Sunday Omodele (63), Osedimilehin Peter (29), Osedimilehin Ifeoluwa (18), Osedimilehin Florence (56), and Ademola Regina.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, operatives of the command, in collaboration with the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, responded promptly to a distress call and launched a targeted rescue operation.
The victims were successfully rescued unharmed from the bush, while three suspects were arrested in connection with the crime. The suspects were identified as Akinyemi Olamilekan, Mutaka Ali, and Atiku Abubakar.
Police said the suspects have made useful statements aiding ongoing investigations and will be charged to court upon conclusion of the process.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, particularly along highways and major commercial routes.
He noted that routine patrols, intelligence-led operations, and strategic monitoring remain in place to prevent criminal activities and ensure rapid response to emergencies.
The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies, emphasizing that timely and credible information is crucial in combating crime.
