Sunmonu To Deliver Lecture As UNILAG Alumni Association’s Holds 55th Anniversary

Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, former Country Chair of Shell Petroleum Development Company, has been announced as the guest speaker for a public lecture marking the 55th anniversary of the University of Lagos Alumni Association.

According to a statement issued by Funmi Falobi, the association’s National Publicity Secretary, the anniversary lecture, slated for Tuesday, December 3, will hold at the J. F. Ade-Ajayi Hall, University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos at 11am.

Mr. Sunmonu, who is Chairman of Julius Berger Plc, will speak on the topic; “Nation Building in a Deregulated Economy: A Clarion Call for Citizens.”

Similarly, veteran broadcaster and Chairman of Channels Media Group, Dr. John Momoh, will grace the occasion as the chairman while the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of the University of Lagos, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN will be the special guest of honour.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola is the host, while the chief host of the occasion is President (Worldwide) of the University of Lagos Alumni Association, Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele.

In the statement issued at the weekend chairman of the planning committee, Mr. Lekan Ajisafe said the anniversary lecture will also serve as a meeting point for corporate executives, industry experts, academics, top government officials, alumni members, and other dignitaries.He said the lecture would dissect government policies, implications on the different sectors, and how businesses can improve operations and increase competition for the benefit of all citizens.

Mr Ajisafe hinted that the lecture would examine the roles citizens and government play in building a nation that is economically viable.

He noted that the lecture is timely considering the myriad of challenges facing Nigeria, adding that it is a forum for proffering solutions that will be of benefits to all citizenry.

Meanwhile, the Unilag Alumni Association will also embark on commemorative trees planting on campus as part of the activities marking the 55th anniversary.
