Talabi to deliver Redeemer’s University 26th Inaugural Lecture

Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, is set to hold its 26th Inaugural Lecture Series on Thursday, November 12, 2026, with Professor Felix Olajide Talabi, Professor of Journalism and Media Studies, as the guest lecturer.

The lecture, titled “Episcopacy of Journalism in Academia: From Millennium Development Goals to Sustainable Development Goals in Humanus Directio,” will take place at the university’s campus in Ede from 1:00 p.m.

Professor Talabi, who holds a B.Sc. from Owerri, an M.A. from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a PhD from the University of Uyo, is a Professor of Journalism and Media Studies in the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences, Redeemer’s University.

The inaugural lecture is being organised under the distinguished chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, FFAN, FFPPS.
According to the university, the lecture is part of its Inaugural Lecture Series 26 and is expected to provide an academic platform for examining the evolution and contributions of journalism within the university system, particularly in relation to global development goals.

The event is being convened by the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Senate of Redeemer’s University, with members of the public invited to attend.

The university, in the announcement, also highlighted its performance in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026, where it is ranked second overall among federal, state and private universities in Nigeria and first in the country in seven Sustainable Development Goals.
