The Senate has received two letters from President Bola Tinubu for confirmation of appointments of four nominees as members of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
The nominees include Deputy Inspector General of Police, Buba Ringim (rtd); Hon, Justice Adamu Paul Galumje (rtd.), Christine Ladi Dabup and Abdulfatah Muhammed as members.
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read President Tinubu’s letter during plenary on Thursday.
In the letter, Tinubu urged the upper chamber to confirm the nominees in line with Section 154 (1) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
“In accordance with the provisions of Section 154(1) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I am pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate, the appointments of the under-listed four nominees as Members of the Police Service Commission,” the letter partly read.
“While it is my hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominees in the usual expeditious manner, please accept, Distinguished Senate President, the assurances of my highest consideration and personal regards.”
Subsequently, in another letter of request, President Tinubu sought confirmation of appointments of three nominees as members of the Governing Board of Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB.The nominees are Fatai Ibikunle; Kennedy Ikpeme and Justice Ibrahim Buba.
“In accordance with the provision of Sections 154(1) and paragraphs 1(a) and (b) of part 1 to the Third Schedule of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I am pleased to present, for confirmation by the Senate, the appointments of under-listed three (3) nominees as Members of the Code of Conduct Bureau.
“While it is my hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominees in the usual expeditious manner, please accept, Distinguished Senate President, the assurances of my best regards,” Tinubu said.
