Tinubu To Launch Nigeria Police Green Initiative, Unveils National Cybercrime Centre

President Bola Tinubu will, on Thursday, 25th July, launch the Nigeria Police Green Initiative at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja.

It was learnt that the initiative is aimed to promote environmental sustainability within police operations and facilities, as well as reduce the environmental footprint of their activities through the implementation of eco-friendly practices and the adoption of renewable energy sources.

The launch of this initiative is expected include various activities such as tree planting, the establishment of green zones within police formations, and the promotion of sustainable practices among police personnel.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday, saying that, “We believe that through this initiative, the Nigeria Police Force can contribute significantly to the global efforts to combat climate change and protect our environment for future generations”

He added that the president also unveiled two landmark projects of the Nigeria Police Force – the NPF National Cybercrime Centre and the NPF Resource Centre.

“The NPF National Cybercrime Centre is a state-of-the-art, ultramodern, and digitalized office complex dedicated to anti-cybercrime operations, and will serve as the central hub for national efforts to combat cybercrime, leveraging advanced technology and digital tools to enhance our operational capabilities.

“The NPF Resource Centre, also commissioned today, is a multifaceted facility that includes state-of-the-art conference halls and accommodation spaces for various events, designed to support a wide range of activities, including training sessions, conferences, and workshops, providing a conducive environment for professional development and collaboration.

“The President, represented by the Honorable Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to investing in the NPF through provision of equipment, facilities, and adequate training while recognizing the importance of the NPF-NCCC in upholding national security and its alignment with the reformation agenda of Mr. President. He also called for interagency collaboration as a key to stamping out inter-agency rivalry.

“The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, appreciated the President for his administration’s support to the technological advancement of policing in the country while assuring that the Force would make judicious use of the projects to showcase professionalism and clampdown on the activities of cybercriminals in Nigeria,” Adejobi said.
