The Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) has elected new officers to lead the association for the next two years.
During the election held on Thursday, four University of Lagos Mass Communication scholars led by Professor Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika were elected as ACSPN officers.
While Professor Ogwezzy emerged as Deputy President for ACSPN, Mrs Ali Balogun was elected as Board of Trustee Member, Dr Faustino Adesina as Assistant General Secretary, and Tosin Adesile was elected as Information Communication Technology officer I.
Professor Rotimi Olatunji of the Lagos State University also emerged as the New President, while other officers also got elected across the four geo-political zones of the country.
The election which was part of the agenda for the 11th Annual conference of communication and professional scholars adopted the theme: ‘Digital Communication & Governance in Africa’.
While delivering his remarks, ACSPN President, Professor Umaru Pate, urged communication scholars to develop themselves and build people, adding that this is another way of upscaling their own career.
The conference attracted a lot of professionals including Mr Dapo Olorunyomi, Editor-in-Chief of Premium Times, who gave the keynote speech, Professor Ralph Akinfeleye, who chaired the opening ceremony, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Special Guest of honour represented by Mr Gbenga Omotoso, Commisioner for information, Lagos State.
The Governor praised the organisers for adopting a germane topic at a time Lagos State is using Digital communication to reach the people.
Other professionals who spoke urged stakeholders on the professional use of Artificial Intelligence.
