The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has issued a security advisory urging its community members, especially staff and students, to avoid the Yaba area and its surroundings from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, February 26, 2024.
This advisory comes in response to reports indicating a planned protest by pro-labour civil organizations, originating from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Yaba Office and expected to extend to various locations within Yaba and Lagos Mainland.
According to statement released by the Head of the Communication Unit of the UNILAG Management on Sunday, February 25, 2024, “Members of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Community, particularly staff and students, are hereby advised to avoid Yaba and environs between 8.30 a.m. and 12 noon on Monday, February 26, 2024.
“This security advisory is issued in view of reports of a planned protest by pro-labour civil organisations, from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Yaba Office to other locations within Yaba and Lagos Mainland.
“Members of the university community are enjoined to abide by this advisory and remain security-conscious at all times”, the statement added.
The university administration has emphasized the importance of adhering to this advisory and encourages its members to prioritize their safety and remain vigilant during this period.
