Police Dislodges Secessionist Camp in Anambra

Police Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu in collaboration with the Anambra State Vigilante Group acting on credible intelligence, stormed a Secessionist/Terrorist camp at Awa, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State in the early hours of August 21, 2025, In a sustained effort to rid Anambra State of criminal elements.

In a press statement issued by Tochukwu Ikenga, command public relations officer stated that the operation lasted for more than fifteen hours, leading to the successful dislodging of the insurgents, a victim who had earlier been kidnapped and held hostage in the camp was rescued .
It was reported that despite the payment of a ransom of ₦20,000,000.00 (Twenty Million Naira) by the victim’s family, the hoodlums aborted his release until he was eventually freed by the Joint Security Team.

The statement adds that, four of the suspects were neutralized, while various exhibits were recovered at the camp.
The following items were recovered two pump action guns, One fabricated AK-47 rifle, One K2 assault rifle, One locally made hunter gun, One radio transmission box, three locally made Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two empty gas cylinders.
Others are two wraps of cable wires, one desert boot, one big cooler, vehicles, phones and a roll of tarpaulin among others.

Ikioye Orutugu, Anambra Commissioner of Police, assures citizens of the command’s resolve in ensuring safety.
