The Federal Government has evacuated 1,230 stranded Nigerians from Niamey, Niger Republic, in an operation carried out in collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and multiple domestic agencies.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the returnees arrived in two batches: 708 on March 23 and 522 on March 29.

Upon arrival in Kano, they were profiled and provided with shelter, food, and medical care before being reunited with their families.

The government thanked Niger and international partners for their support and advised Nigerians abroad to register with embassies for emergency assistance.
