FCT Police Debunks Viral Report on Alleged Kidney Sales in Nyanya

By Our Reporter

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed as false a viral social media report alleging that young people living around the Nyanya area of Abuja have been selling their kidneys for money, with an agent in Mararaba allegedly purchasing human kidneys.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the Police had neither received nor confirmed any report relating to the alleged kidney sales.

The Command clarified that no statement or official communication confirming the allegation had emanated from the FCT Police Command, urging members of the public to disregard the publication and refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing fear, panic and apprehension among residents.

The Police, however, encouraged anyone with credible information concerning alleged human organ trafficking or any other security concern within the FCT to report promptly to the nearest police station or contact the Command.

The FCT Police Command can be reached on 07038979348 and 08028940883.
