Ere Ogbachi, a medical doctor, has died following complications after giving birth to triplets in Bayelsa State.

Her death was confirmed in a Facebook post on Wednesday by her brother, Meshack Sintei, who said she was later moved to the Intensive Care Unit of the Federal Medical Centre Yenagoa, where she passed away at about 2:45 a.m. on April 14, 2026.
According to the family, complications developed shortly after the successful delivery, necessitating an emergency transfer to intensive care.
“She safely delivered triplets at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital… but complications arose, forcing us to rush her to the ICU at FMC Yenagoa,” the statement said.
The family recounted that despite sustained efforts by medical personnel, her condition worsened rapidly at the ICU.
“We watched her struggle to survive, gasping for breath, as doctors and specialists at FMC did everything possible to revive her,” the statement added.
It further revealed that her oxygen saturation levels dropped critically during the emergency. “The SpO2 reading declined from 70 to 50 and eventually to 0,” the family said.
Sintei described her passing as a devastating loss, noting that she was both a committed medical professional and a new mother of triplets.
“It was a painful experience… my beloved sister passed on at exactly 2:45 a.m. on April 14, 2026. A generation has been lost, and the Sintei family mourns,” he said.
He added that she “fought till the very end” and thanked friends and well-wishers for their support.
Until her death, Ogbachi was a wife, a mother of triplets, a medical doctor, a registrar at NDUTH, a member of the Nigerian Medical Association, and an alumna of the Niger Delta University.
