Ahmed Sanusi, the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory Command, on Thursday presented Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and Family Welfare Support cheques to the families and next of kin of 79 fallen officers.

The presentation, held at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki II, Abuja, was part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day and highlighted the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the welfare of personnel and families of officers who died in the line of duty.
According to a statement by Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson, the initiative aligns with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to prioritise officers’ well-being and honour the sacrifices of fallen personnel.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Sanusi expressed condolences and reassured them of the Force’s continued support.
“The sacrifices of our fallen officers will never be forgotten. We remain committed to supporting their families and ensuring their welfare,” he said.
The command also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, reaffirming its dedication to protecting lives and property.
The cheque presentation forms part of activities lined up for the 2026 National Police Day, an annual event aimed at recognising the sacrifices of police personnel and strengthening welfare support for serving officers and the families of those who died in service.
The initiative, the command noted, is part of ongoing efforts to boost morale within the Force and enhance public confidence in policing.
