The Federal Government has announced the full automation of the authentication and evaluation of academic credentials, ending physical visits for verification processes.

The Federal Ministry of Education said the new system will now make all applications for authentication and evaluation available exclusively online.
In a statement on Thursday, the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, said the reform aligns with the government’s digital transformation agenda.
It said the initiative is aimed at improving data management, strengthening the integrity of academic records and enhancing public service delivery.
“The Federal Ministry of Education has fully automated the process for the Authentication and Evaluation of academic credentials as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, improve data management, and enhance public service delivery,” the statement read.
Under the new arrangement, applicants are required to register and upload documents via the ministry’s verification portal at essverify.education.gov.ng.
They are also expected to request their institutions to send transcripts directly from official institutional email addresses to ess1@education.gov.ng.
The ministry said applicants will no longer be required to visit its offices for physical verification.
Officials said the system is expected to reduce processing time and improve the credibility of credential verification in the country.
“This transition to a fully automated platform is expected to simplify procedures, reduce processing time, and further strengthen the integrity and credibility of academic credential verification in Nigeria,” it said.
