The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 146 suspects in a large-scale, intelligence-driven operation carried out in Sagamu as part of efforts to curb crime and enhance public safety.

The operation, code-named “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe,” was executed by operatives of the Sagamu Area Command in collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders.

According to the police, the coordinated raid, conducted in the early hours of April 13, 2026, targeted identified flashpoints within Sagamu and its environs where criminal activities had been reported.

The exercise followed a series of strategic engagements involving traditional rulers, the Sagamu Local Government Council, and heads of security agencies aimed at strengthening the area’s security framework.

Security personnel involved in the operation included officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.

Police authorities said the suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities. Those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the synergy, professionalism, and discipline displayed by the participating agencies.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led and proactive policing, assuring residents of sustained efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.

The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its designated emergency lines.
