The Nasarawa state police command has recorded a significant breakthrough in the fight against illegal arms trafficking with the seizure of arms and large cache of ammunitions in lafia.

The statement by SP Ramhan Nansel, command public Relations officer indicated that, the police, through credible intelligence intercepted Two suspected gun runners a driver traveling through lafia in possession of large cache of high grade firearms and ammunition en route to Ilorin, Kwara State.

The seized items include : One (1) General Purpose Machine Gun ( GPMG), Three (3) AK – 47 riffles, One (1) TAB 06 riffle, One Thousand and Ninety Six rounds of 7. 62 x 39 Millimetre ammunition, Twenty rounds of 7. 62 Millimetre NATO Calibre ammunition, Four (4) empty Magazines, And One (1) Toyota Hiace bus.
According to the statement, the suspects confessed to being paid the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦500,000) to transport the weapons from Benue to Kwara State
The suspects who will be arraigned in court after investigations have been taken into custody
