The FCT Police Command has taken swift action in response to the tragic death of a 3-year-old boy who drowned in an uncovered septic tank in Durumi 2, Abuja.
Philip Jallo, the suspect, has been arrested for his alleged negligence in failing to cover the tank despite repeated warnings from neighbors.

The incident, which occurred on July 16, 2025, has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the importance of environmental safety and responsible behavior. According to eyewitnesses, the child was playing in the compound when he slipped and fell into the uncovered septic tank.
The FCT Police Command has expressed deep sadness over the incident and commiserates with the bereaved family. The Commissioner of Police has urged residents to prioritize environmental safety and for parents and guardians to be vigilant in monitoring their children to prevent such incidents.
Josephine Adeh, The police spokesperson, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility and vigilance in keeping communities safe. The suspect is currently in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing, with the police committed to holding individuals accountable for negligence that endangers life.
