The Rivers State Ministry of Education has ordered the immediate suspension of Wisdom Gate International Schools, Campus 1, Eligbolo operation following the tragic death of a two-year-old pupil on March 17, 2026.

In a statement issued on April 15, 2026, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Peters Nwagor, said the decision followed a careful review of the incident and an independent investigation conducted by the Ministry.
The Ministry expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family, describing the loss as painful and irreparable, while also urging the public to respect the family’s privacy and refrain from speculation.
According to the statement, the Ministry had engaged with the school’s management as part of its inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Consequently, Wisdom Gate International School, Campus 1, Eligbolo, is hereby suspended from operations and shall not resume academic activities until all issues surrounding the matter are fully resolved,” the statement read.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining safety standards, quality assurance, and proper care across both public and private schools in the state.
It added that necessary measures would continue to be enforced to ensure the protection and well-being of pupils in all approved educational institutions.
