Fire Destroys Shops With Multi-million Worth Goods In Lagos Alaba Market

A fire outbreak has destroyed yet-to-be specified number of shops at Alaba Rago market, located in the Ojo area of Lagos State.

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident on Wednesday morning.

According to Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA received a distress call regarding the fire at 10:23 p.m on Tuesday.He stated that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

“Upon arrival of the Agency’s Dolphin Response Team at the incident scene, it was discovered that some shanty shops were engulfed in fire,” he said.

“Further investigations at the incident scene had not yet ascertained the cause of the fire as at the time of reporting,” he added.

However, the swift intervention of LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, ensured that the fire was contained and prevented from spreading to other permanent structures in the area.

No casualties or injuries were reported during the incident.
