Army Confiscate Over 130,000 Liters of Stolen Crude Oil in Rivers

Troops of the 6 division Nigerian Army in conjunction with sister agencies have confiscated over one hundred and thirty thousand (130,000) liters of stolen crude oil in Rivers creeks.

Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah, Acting Deputy Director of the Nigerian Army public relations disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen.

According to the statement, six wooden boats, nine illegal refining sites and several pumping machines were destroyed in an area covering thirty seven illegal refineries.

Over 176 cooking drums and five thousand liters of illegally refined diesel were also destroyed during the operations which cut across Ogba/Egbema and Ndoni local government area of Rivers state.

Dug out pits used to mix crude oil in the illegal refinery sites as well as different sizes of pipes were also confiscated during the operation.

Major General Jamal Abdulsalam, The General Officer Commanding 6 division of Nigerian Army while commending the troops for the feat achieved, charged them to sustain the tempo against oil thieves, as he reassured that criminals will not be allowed freedom of action to have any foothold in the region.
