Troops of the Nigerian Army, supported by hybrid forces and intelligence from the Department of State Services (DSS), neutralize at least 45 terrorists during a fierce encounter in Iburu village, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The DSS, in a statement, noted that the operation, which took place over the weekend followed a tip-off about an impending attack on local communities, which indicated that dozens of terrorists on motorcycles were advancing toward Iburu and nearby villages. Troops on standby mobilized quickly and engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, resulting in heavy casualties among the attackers. Villagers reportedly count over 40 corpses and several destroyed motorcycles at the scene.
However two members of the hybrid forces paid the supreme prize while four others who sustained gunshot wounds have been admitted and receiving treatment at a public hospital in the state capital.
This incident came months after the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, raised concerns over terrorist activity along the Babanna border, where Customs personnel narrowly escaped an ambush by armed militants.
