NIMC Arrests Suspected Illegal NIN Enrolment Operations, Warns Against Unauthorized Centres

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has arrested suspected illegal NIN enrolment operators in Gwagwalada and other locations as it intensifies efforts to tackle unauthorised enrolment, illegal data modification and extortion.

A statement by Kayode Adegoke, Head of Corporate Communications, notes that the Commission’s Inspectorate Compliance and Enforcement Unit also seized equipment allegedly used by the operators during the enforcement exercise.

The statement adds that Abisoye Coker-Odusote, Director-General of NIMC, has reiterated the Commission’s zero tolerance for extortion and other unethical practices.

It further emphasises that NIN enrolment must be carried out only at approved centres, while requests for data modification should be processed through the Commission’s authorised self-service platform.

The Commission urges NIN holders to use only approved channels and download the NINAuth application, which provides additional security features, including NIN protection and access to NIN slip printing.
