Air Peace Warns Passengers Against Fake WhatsApp Agent, Unauthorised Payments

Air Peace has warned passengers against a suspected fraudster allegedly impersonating one of its customer service representatives on WhatsApp to collect money for fake flight bookings.

The airline said the suspect, who operates with the phone number 08082894680, has been contacting unsuspecting passengers while falsely presenting himself as an Air Peace customer service agent.

According to the airline, the individual has also been changing the bank accounts used to receive payments from victims, prompting the carrier to issue a fresh warning to the travelling public.

In a scam alert signed by its spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, Air Peace stressed that the individual and the activities associated with the phone number are not authorised by the airline.

The airline advised passengers to verify all booking and payment information through its recognised channels before transferring money.

Air Peace said it does not accept payments through personal or third-party bank accounts, adding that legitimate transactions should only be conducted through its official website, mobile application, accredited travel agents, sales offices and designated locations at airports.

The airline further urged passengers to be particularly cautious when approached on WhatsApp or other social media platforms by individuals claiming to represent its customer service department.

It advised passengers who encounter suspicious booking requests, payment instructions or impersonation attempts to report them immediately through Air Peace’s official customer service channels.

The airline also urged passengers to independently confirm booking details and payment instructions before making any payment, particularly when dealing with representatives through messaging applications.
