There have been various debates on who the right candidate to vote for out of the 16 candidates for the 2023 Election is. Although, there are three main candidates and party namely: Peter Obi (Labour Party),Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (All Progressive Congress) and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (People’s Democratic Party). It seems to many Nigerians that the other candidates are just there to fill in space, with all due respect to them, we can be reasonably certain that our next president would be one of the aforementioned men.
The decision to vote in 2023 election is a do or die affair because that decision will either make the country do better or kill the country. The onus lies on every Nigeria of voting age to plan and vote.
In choosing a candidate, this is not the time to blindly follow the crowd of the candidates, or noise and hype. Rather, you should do your due diligence, research and find out for yourself which of the candidates is worthy of your vote. don’t allow yourself get carried away with campaign noise and fantastic promises.
The current quagmire in Nigeria today is bent on ending the existence of the country and the only reason why we can have appreciable progress is by voting a leader who is different from all.
How?
He or she must be a leader who believes strongly in restructuring. If Nigeria refuse to restructure, then,it means we are ready to remain a ‘no future ambition’ country. The current challenges bedeviling Nigeria can only be solved by restructuring where we can have the much awaited federalism-the foundation structure to which our constitution has been laid. By restructuring, more powers will be given to the states while the federal government will concentrate on foreign policy, defense and the economy.
The second main reason we need to choose a preferable candidate is by observing the leader who is ready to overhaul the constitution from what it is today to a constitution for all where Nigerians are all equal under it and too much power to the elected representatives are check mated. It is very clear that there are many loop holes in our constitution that needs to be revisited.
What we have had in the last few months is different Nigerians coming out for the position of President but we need to separate the wheat from the chaff. What Nigeria needs is a leader who is visionary, competent, effective, who has a mind of his own and is selfless. Let us check the pedigree of all the sixteen presidential candidates that we have for 2023 elections and figure this out. No need for argument and let your decision be yours not because your friend said so. Infact, such choice should be strongly hinged on a detribalised leader and a very honest one.
If the international disgrace and the rate at which some formed groups take what belongs to the entire population is anything to go by, we must not take these coming elections with levity.
Nigeria is a country to beat, we have mineral resources and large expanse of land but the willingness to manage these for the benefit of all is sadly missing.
One of the major bane of underdevelopment in Nigeria is access to education particularly in the North and East. The powerful class are using illiteracy as weapon of mass destruction which has continued to threaten the unity of not only their region, but the country at large.
Before you vote in 2023,think above personal and selfish interests. Think above ethnicity, think above religion or tribe, think nationally.
Think about a country you can call a home. A country where your children and unborn children can thrive. A country you can apply and get instant response without knowing anybody.
A country that can work without bribery. A country where it is Others first, self next or never.
A country where by insecurity will be a thing of the past.
A country where leaders can truly serve as servant-leaders and not autocratic leaders.
A country where people offer help to one another without expecting anything in return.
A country where discpline is taking far above indiscipline.
A country that works and attract numerous foreign investments.
Before you vote in 2023 election, think deeply.
