The Nigerian Railway Corporation has commenced 50% Slash in fee for train ride on all its passenger services, the sparklight news can authoritatively confirm the development.

On Monday, December 23, 2025, it was difficult to book a train ride, but when eventually it became successful, there were technical itches.
Our correspondent, who booked a train ride from Lagos to Ibadan, paid 2,268 for a business class ticket against the 4500 naira usual amount.
The Managing Director of the NRC, Kayode Opeifa, on Monday TVC News Breakfast programme, stated that NRC is offering discount to Nigerians and it will run from December 23 to January 4.
“We are slashing as directed by the Federal Government, and we also agree it should be that way, because we are a public corporation.
“We are slashing our fares by 50%. We would have loved to do it free, as we did last year, but when we did it the last two years under the current government, we noticed that there was a lot of discomfort to regular trade users,” he said.

Passengers are advised to obtain their 50% tickets via online e-ticketing platforms only.
