The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC) has reaffirmed its legitimacy, citing court rulings, and declared that the party’s forthcoming National Convention will proceed as scheduled.

Addressing a press conference on March 22, the committee said judgments of the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal have clearly recognised the NCWC as the lawful body to steer the affairs of the party.
The PDP urged members and the public to disregard contrary claims, stressing that the judicial pronouncements remain binding.
The committee, however, expressed concern over moves by a group allegedly led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki to obtain a court injunction in Ibadan to halt the planned convention.
It described the development as unfortunate, noting that previous efforts by the party leadership to resolve internal differences through dialogue were ignored by the faction.
The NCWC warned against actions capable of undermining party unity and stability, adding that such steps run contrary to the principles of internal democracy and the rule of law.
It also called on the judiciary to take note of what it described as attempts to abuse court processes to frustrate the party’s activities, while reaffirming confidence in the courts.
The party further assured members nationwide that preparations for the National Convention, scheduled for March 29 and 30, 2026, have been concluded.
According to the committee, the PDP is fully prepared to conduct a transparent and credible convention.
The NCWC urged party members to remain law-abiding and committed to the party’s progress, insisting that the PDP remains united and determined.
