As part of the Lagos State Police Command’s sustained efforts to combat armed robbery, carjacking and other violent crimes across the State, operatives of the Command, acting on credible intelligence, have arrested three (3) suspected members of a notorious armed robbery and carjacking syndicate in the Alakuko area of Lagos State.
The suspects, identified as Faruk Rasheed, ‘m’, 20 years; Olamilekan Ademola, ‘m’, 28 years; and Abidemi Oluwawemo, ‘m’, 21 years, were tracked down and arrested. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly specialised in car snatching and robbing innocent citizens of their valuables.
A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of two (2) locally made pistols loaded with five (5) cartridges and one locally made revolver pistol loaded with three (3) rounds of 9mm live ammunition. The suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
CP Tijani Fatai, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of residents across Lagos State. He also encouraged members of the public to report emergencies and suspicious activities through the Command emergency lines.
