Authorities of the Nigeria Police Force on Saturday gave a final salute to former Inspector-General of Police, Dr. RTD Solomon Ehigiator Arase, with a guard of honour led by IGP Kayode Egbetokun and his management team at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The Egbetokun said Arase, who joined the Force in 1981, rose through the ranks serving in various commands, including as Divisional Police Officer in Benin City and as District Commander during the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Namibia.
He added that Arase also served as Personal Staff Officer to three consecutive Inspectors-General before his appointment in April 2015 as the 18th indigenous IGP.
Egbetokun added that his tenure was marked by reforms that strengthened professionalism, discipline, and respect for the rule of law.
Former FCT Commissioner of Police, Lawrence Alobi, and former DSS Spokesperson, Marilyn Ogar, described the deceased as humble, innovative, and accessible, noting that he built enduring relationships throughout his career.
His remains were flown from Abuja to Benin for interment. The Nigeria Police Force expressed condolences to his family, the Police Service Commission, and the nation, remembering him as a reformer and patriot whose legacy will endure.
