Ariko Village Attack: IGP Deploys DIG Operations to Kaduna, Seven Kidnap Victims Rescued

IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, Inspector-General of Police has ordered the deployment of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations), Shehu Umar Nadada, to Kaduna State following a deadly attack in Ariko Village near Gurara Dam.

The attack, which occurred on April 5, 2026, saw armed bandits storm ECWA and Catholic churches in the community, shooting indiscriminately. The incident left five persons dead, while about 14 others were abducted.

In response, the IGP directed immediate operational intervention, deploying the DIG Operations to assess the situation and coordinate security efforts aimed at restoring order and securing the release of the abducted victims.

During a joint operation led by DIG Nadada, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services (DSS), seven of the kidnapped victims were successfully rescued.

The rescued victims were taken to Katari Hospital for medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition, awaiting reunion with their families.

The police said efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

The IGP urged members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and provide credible information to support ongoing security operations.
