President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on an official visit to Ogun State, where he will commission and inspect a series of major infrastructure projects aimed at boosting economic growth and development in the state.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the governor, Kayode Akinmade, the visit will feature the unveiling of landmark projects across key sectors.
At the centre of the visit is the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, a project designed to position Ogun as a major aviation and logistics hub. The President will also inaugurate two newly acquired aircraft under Gateway Air, in partnership with ValueJet, marking the takeoff of the state’s aviation initiative.
As part of activities at the airport, Tinubu will witness a cargo operations demonstration facilitated by the Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCOL), highlighting readiness for full-scale logistics and freight services.
Other assets to be commissioned at the airport include 1,000 electric bikes under the state’s mobility initiative, 80 security vehicles to enhance safety operations, and a fleet of agricultural tractors to support farmers and boost food production.
Beyond the airport, the President is expected to commission the Ilishan–Iperu Airport Road, a key link connecting the facility to surrounding communities. He will also inspect the Nigeria Customs Service Village and inaugurate a Forward Operating Base of the Nigeria Customs Service to strengthen trade and border security.
The visit will further include the inspection of the Gateway Aviation Village, a development intended to support the state’s aviation ecosystem.
In addition, Tinubu will commission the reconstructed Sapade–Ilishan Road, also known as the Old Ibadan Road, which will be officially named the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Expressway to improve connectivity and commerce in the region.
He is also scheduled to inspect the Sagamu–Benin Concrete Road, a major federal infrastructure project aimed at enhancing transportation along a critical corridor.
The projects are part of the development agenda of Governor Dapo Abiodun, focused on building a modern and economically vibrant state.
The President’s visit is expected to underscore collaboration between the federal and state governments in driving infrastructure development and economic expansion.
