President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to commission six major infrastructure projects delivered by the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration during his first official visit to Lagos State since assuming office.

The two-day visit will feature the inauguration of landmark projects, including the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, Lagos State Geographic Information Service (LAGIS) building, Lagos Multi-Agency Building in Alausa, Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Abijo, Ajah, Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, and the Maracana Stadium comprising 19 mini-football pitches.
Details of the visit were disclosed on Monday during a press briefing in Alausa by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, who said the President would officially unveil the projects on Wednesday and Thursday.
Omotoso noted that the projects reflect the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure, enhancing mobility, stimulating economic activities, and boosting social welfare across the state.
He added that the commissioning underscores the importance of continuity in governance, noting that some of the projects, such as the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, were conceptualised over two decades ago during Tinubu’s tenure as Lagos governor and later revived by the current administration.
According to him, the bridge is expected to ease traffic congestion along key corridors, including Ojota, Maryland, Mende, Opebi, and Allen, while providing a direct connection between Ikeja’s central business district and surrounding residential areas.
On education, Omotoso said the regeneration of the Tolu Schools Complex—serving about 20,000 students—has transformed previously dilapidated structures into a modern, inclusive learning environment with additional classrooms, vocational facilities, and accessibility features for persons living with disabilities.
He also highlighted the significance of the Lagos Fresh Food Hub, which is expected to strengthen food distribution networks and improve access to fresh produce in the Eti-Osa corridor.
The LAGIS building, a five-storey facility, will serve as a one-stop centre for geospatial mapping, urban planning, and land administration services, while the Multi-Agency Building is designed to enhance coordination among government institutions.
Omotoso said the projects collectively represent progress and a long-term vision for a more inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive Lagos.
He assured residents that adequate security and logistics arrangements had been put in place for the visit, with over 500 personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) deployed to manage traffic and ensure smooth movement across the metropolis.
Residents were urged to cooperate with authorities, especially in areas where temporary traffic adjustments may be required during the President’s visit.
