Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered three stolen vehicles along with a firearm in a series of intelligence-led operations across the state and beyond.

The suspects, identified as Hammed Olarewaju, Adedokun Ayinde, and Adedokun Adewusi, were apprehended by detectives of the Anti-Robbery Squad following credible intelligence on vehicle theft activities.

Police investigations revealed that the operation was triggered by reports of stolen vehicles, prompting a discreet probe. Hammed Olarewaju was initially arrested in possession of a suspicious vehicle plate number, leading to further investigations that exposed a wider criminal network.

Subsequently, Adedokun Ayinde, identified as the alleged leader of the syndicate, was arrested. During the operation, a stolen Toyota Sienna was recovered alongside a locally fabricated pistol believed to have been used in criminal operations.

In a related development, a Toyota Corolla earlier stolen in Ilaro, Ogun State, was recovered from a suspect, Arowolo Taoreed, in Ibadan, Ibadan.

Further breakthroughs led to the arrest of Adedokun Adewusi in connection with another armed robbery case. Investigations also resulted in the recovery of a grey 2017 Lexus RX 350 F-Sport vehicle traced to Abuja. Additionally, a pistol linked to the syndicate was recovered in Ajah, Lagos.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects are members of a coordinated criminal network involved in armed robbery and vehicle theft across Ogun State and neighbouring states.

The police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate and recover additional stolen vehicles.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency lines.
