Man City Thrash Chelsea 3-0, Close Gap on Arsenal in Title Race

Manchester City reignited the Premier League title race with a commanding 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, cutting the gap on leaders Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola’s side turned the game around with a dominant second-half performance, scoring twice within six minutes through Nico O’Reilly and Marc Guehi, before Jeremy Doku sealed the emphatic win.

City capitalised on Arsenal’s surprise 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth a day earlier, moving within six points of the Gunners with a game in hand.

After a sluggish first half that offered little attacking threat, City emerged from the break with renewed intensity. O’Reilly opened the scoring in the 51st minute with a close-range header, before Guehi doubled the lead moments later with a powerful finish following a brilliant assist from Rayan Cherki.

Doku added a third in the 68th minute after capitalising on a defensive error, ensuring a comfortable win for the visitors.

The result sets up a crucial clash between City and Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on April 19, a fixture that could prove decisive in the title race. A win for City would reduce the gap to just three points.

Guardiola’s side appears to be hitting top form at a critical stage of the season, having recently secured victories in both domestic cup competitions.

For Chelsea, the defeat compounds a poor run of form, with just one win in their last seven league matches. The Blues, who remain sixth on the table, continue to struggle for consistency as they chase a top-five finish and UEFA Champions League qualification.

Despite a few early chances, including a disallowed goal and a saved effort, Chelsea failed to maintain momentum and were ultimately outclassed by a clinical City side.

The victory further underlines Manchester City’s reputation for strong finishes to the season, keeping the pressure firmly on Arsenal as the title race intensifies.
