The arrests were carried out by operatives of the Sango-Ota Division in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, to enforce traffic discipline and ease congestion in the area.
Police authorities said operatives were strategically deployed to major flashpoints known for persistent gridlock and road indiscipline. During the enforcement exercise, several vehicles and tricycles were intercepted for violating traffic regulations, while those obstructing free movement were impounded.
The suspects arrested include Rufus Kunle, Sanni Ogbewi, Aremu Oluwatunmise, Kayode Ariyo, Wisdom Akpan, Yinka Molaolu, Olushola Adebowale, Ikechukwu Ogah, and Nwuda Chukwuka.
According to the police, the offenders have been formally charged to court, while monitoring and enforcement operations continue to identify and apprehend other violators within the Sango-Ota corridor.
The Commissioner of Police commended the professionalism and commitment of the operatives, reiterating the command’s zero tolerance for traffic obstruction and road indiscipline.
He warned that anyone found deliberately causing traffic gridlock or disobeying lawful directives of traffic officers would be dealt with in accordance with the law, regardless of status.
The command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its emergency lines, including the Gateway Shield toll-free number and other designated contacts.
