NOUN to Graduate 24,575 Students at 15th Convocation

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has announced that a total of 24,575 students will graduate at its 15th Convocation Ceremony.

Vice-Chancellor of the university, Uduma Oji Uduma, disclosed this during a pre-convocation press conference held on April 14, 2026, at the institution’s headquarters in Abuja.

He said activities for the convocation will commence with a lecture on Friday, April 17, while the main ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026. The event will take place at the university’s headquarters and across its study centres nationwide via live streaming.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the convocation lecture will be delivered by former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Kanu Godwin Agabi, and chaired by Professor Kabir Bala.

The lecture will focus on the theme, “Nigeria Against Corruption,” which Uduma described as timely and reflective of the need to produce not only skilled graduates but also ethical citizens.

Providing a breakdown of the graduating students, the Vice-Chancellor said 17,474 are undergraduate students, 1,788 are postgraduate diploma holders, 5,282 will receive master’s degrees, and 31 will graduate with PhDs.

He noted that the figure represents the highest number of graduates in the university’s history.

Uduma added that the graduating class includes 57 First Class graduates and 56 inmates, highlighting the institution’s commitment to inclusive education.

The breakdown includes Faculty of Management Sciences recording the highest number of graduates with 7,455, followed by Social Sciences with 6,024, Health Sciences with 3,939, Education with 3,431, Computing with 2,205, Sciences with 943, Agricultural Sciences with 120, and Law with six postgraduate students.

The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the university’s commitment to expanding access to quality education through its open and distance learning model.
