The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has confirmed nine candidates for the 2027 National Assembly election in Kwara State.

The list comprises three senatorial candidates and six candidates contesting seats in the House of Representatives across the state’s federal constituencies.
For the Senate, Senator Saliu Mustapha will contest for Kwara Central, while Saheed Popoola and Kolo Baba Jiya were listed for Kwara South and Kwara North respectively.
The commission also confirmed Prof. Fatai Ayinde Aremu as the candidate for Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency.
Other House of Representatives candidates on the list are Saka Yusuf Eletu for Ilorin East/Ilorin South, Mashood Bakare for Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun, Gbenga Joseph Obanla for Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero, Shaaba Usman Kawu for Edu/Moro/Patigi, and Ahmed Abubakar Sadiq for Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency.
The confirmation by INEC formally places the candidates on the electoral body’s list ahead of the 2027 general election.
The development sets the stage for the candidates to commence preparations for their respective National Assembly contests as political activities intensify ahead of the polls.
