The Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, has a resigned from his position.
According to reports, Abubakar submitted his resignation to President Bola Tinubu earlier on Saturday, August 24.
It was learnt that the president has duly accepted his resignation letter. The reasons behind his sudden decision to step down remain unclear.
The presidency has yet to issue an official statement regarding the development.
Ahmed Rufai Abubakar has held the position since January 2018, overseeing the nation’s foreign intelligence operations.
He was appointed by former president Muhammadu Buhari.
