CAC Moves to Strike Off 100,000 Companies Over Regulatory Non-Compliance

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has commenced another round of striking off inactive and non-compliant companies from its register, giving affected firms 90 days to regularise their status or risk permanent removal.

The Commission announced the exercise, tagged “Intention to Strike Off Companies from the Register (Batch 6),” in a public notice issued on July 15, 2026.

According to the CAC, the action is being carried out pursuant to the provisions of Sections 692(3) and 692(4) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), 2020.

The Commission disclosed that about 100,000 companies are affected in the latest batch, adding that the full list is available on its official website.

It directed the affected companies to file all outstanding Annual Returns, including Persons with Significant Control (PSC) or Beneficial Ownership information, and regularise their records within 90 days of the notice.

The CAC also instructed companies to forward evidence of compliance to its designated email address after completing the necessary filings.

The Commission warned that any company that fails to comply within the stipulated period would be struck off the Register without further notice.

The exercise is part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to maintain an accurate and up-to-date register of companies operating in Nigeria and to ensure compliance with statutory obligations under the Companies and Allied Matters Act.

The CAC reaffirmed its commitment to delivering prompt and efficient services while encouraging companies to take advantage of the grace period to regularise their records and avoid being delisted.
