Police Rescue 13 Kidnapped Passengers Traveling To Abuja in Benue

The Benue State Police Command rescued 13 more passengers kidnapped along Otukpo–Adoka Road on the 14 of August 2026, while travelling from Enugu to Abuja.

CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, Commissioner of Police, said the rescue is coming after five days of intense and relentless search and rescue operations, before operatives, acting on intelligence located the victims at Amla-Cho Forest, in Otukpo Local Government Area, where the operatives encountered the kidnappers and rescued the victims on the 20th of August 2026.

The Police said the suspects fled the scene under cover of darkness, and the victims were successfully rescued unhurt, one suspect neutralized and an AK-47 rifle and five rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the scene. The rescued victims were taken to a medical facility for medical attention and, thereafter, transported to their respective destinations in a chartered bus.

DSP Peter Orchia, Command Public Relations officer, in a statement, indicated that efforts are intensified to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
