The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has recounted how he allegedly warned former President Olusegun Obasanjo about an injection he claimed could have endangered his life while they were both in prison.

Atiku made the disclosure during an interview with newsmen, saying he received information about an alleged plan to administer the injection to Obasanjo and subsequently alerted him.
According to the former Vice President, a similar incident had occurred involving the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, whom he said he also warned after learning of an alleged plan to administer the injection to him.
Atiku said his intervention helped prevent what he described as a possible attempt on Obasanjo’s life during their period in detention.
“I saved Obasanjo’s life in prison by leaking information about an impending injection that could have killed him,” Atiku said.
He, however, accused Obasanjo of later turning against him because of his opposition to the former president’s third-term bid.
“Today, he wants the world to hate me because I opposed his third-term ambition,” he said.
Atiku served as Vice President under Obasanjo between 1999 and 2007, before their political relationship became strained over the former president’s alleged third-term agenda.
The claim about the alleged injection was made by Atiku during the interview and was not independently verified in the report.
