Premier League club Brentford F.C. have rewarded Nigerian defender Michael Kayode with a new long-term contract that will keep him at the Gtech Community Stadium until June 2032.

The new agreement also includes an option for the club to extend the deal by an additional year, underlining Brentford’s confidence in the 21-year-old full-back following his impressive performances since arriving in West London.
Kayode signed permanently for Brentford last year in an €18 million move from ACF Fiorentina after a successful loan spell during the second half of the 2024/25 season.
The Nigerian defender has since become a key figure in the team, featuring in 44 matches across all competitions during his first full season in England. He scored once and provided two assists, with his energetic displays and defensive solidity earning him a nomination for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award.
Speaking after signing the contract extension, Kayode described Brentford as a family and said he was delighted to continue his development at the club.
“I feel like this club is a family, so I wanted to continue my journey here. I have amazing relationships here, and every day I enjoy coming in to train with my teammates and the staff,” he said.
Reflecting on his progress since joining the Bees, Kayode added: “Ever since I joined the club, everything has been amazing. It feels like I’ve been playing for Brentford for 10 years. I’ve improved a lot both on and off the pitch, and that’s really important for me.”
The contract extension is expected to provide Brentford with long-term stability in defence while reinforcing the club’s commitment to developing young talent.
