The management of the Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the schedule of activities for its combined 29th and 30th Convocation Ceremonies for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.

The announcement was made on behalf of the university’s management and staff by the Vice-Chancellor, Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, who invited graduands, parents, guardians, stakeholders, members of the university community and the general public to participate in the ceremonies.
According to the programme, the convocation activities will run from August 12 to August 23, 2026, beginning with a convocation press conference at the Senate Chamber of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building on the university’s main campus in Ojo. The opening day will also feature a sports competition for members of staff at the LASU Sports Centre.
Other activities lined up include a Staff Celebration Day on August 13, a Coconut Breaking and Cultural Day as well as a Jumat service on August 14. Academic awards will commence on August 17 at the university’s Epe Campus, where diplomas, first degrees, postgraduate diplomas and master’s degrees in Engineering and Agricultural Sciences will be conferred alongside the award of Distinguished Professorship.
A convocation lecture will hold on August 18 at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Ojo Campus, followed by the award of diplomas, first degrees, postgraduate diplomas and master’s degrees across other disciplines. The grand finale of the academic awards will take place on August 19 with the conferment of professional and academic doctorate degrees as well as honorary doctorate degrees.
The programme will conclude on August 23 with a special convocation thanksgiving service at the University’s Chapel of Light on the Ojo campus.
The university also issued guidelines for graduands, directing them to pay for their convocation packages through the university’s payment portal before the ceremonies. Academic gowns must be returned on or before August 21, 2026, as late returns will attract a penalty of ₦1,000 for each day of default.
LASU further warned that graduands who lose or damage their academic gowns would pay replacement fees of ₦36,000 for first-degree gowns and ₦45,000 for postgraduate gowns.
The management disclosed that certificates would be available for collection immediately after the convocation ceremony, subject to the return of academic gowns and completion of the required clearance process.
Graduands were also instructed to join the academic procession by 9:00 a.m. each day, while parents, guardians and invited guests are expected to be seated no later than 8:30 a.m. The university advised all participants to maintain order throughout the ceremonies, noting that unauthorized movement and photography inside the auditorium would not be permitted.
Congratulating the graduating students, parents and stakeholders, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the university community and wished all participants a successful combined convocation ceremony.
